The Piazzo Comm. Armando 2019 Barolo Valente is a bright and punchy wine with forest berry and crushed white pepper. Valente has a nice touch of rusticity and a wild side with brushings of balsam herb, cola and dried lavender bud. All the fruit comes from various vineyards in Novello with both clay and sandy soils. This wine shows a very authentic profile, and that is its most endearing quality. A second dose of crushed pepper appears on the mid-weight close. This is a 15,000-bottle release (that is priced to move).
