Dark, ruby-black center with crimson- and violet-staining tears around the glass. The nose is assertive, with black currant, bay leaf, new leather, and cedar spice. Good ripeness on the palate with a firm, muscular structure and detail and definition that go way beyond this price point. Gravel and graphite, black pipe tobacco, and espresso bean all emerge on the long finish. Drink 2022–2030.
