"Nizza DOCG, created in 2014 is a hilly area south of Asti. The barbera grape has settled into the region giving favorable conditions to ripen grapes. Low yield offers excellent quality. Ruby red color with purple highlights. Intense aromatics to the nose with aromas of red berries. Hints of sour cherries to the palate. Velvety, balanced and fresh on the palate with excellent acidity along the finish. Ideal with pasta dishes with hearty meat sauces, red meat, roasts and braises. Excellent with blue and other sharp cheeses."

The Garesio 2017 Nizza is a rich and darkly concentrated expression of Barbera from one of Italy's newest and most anticipated appellations, Nizza. You get plenty of inky dark concentration focused primarily on blackberry and cherry liqueur. Background tones of crushed stone, spice and cured tobacco give the wine a broad reach and more complexity. Despite those very intense aromas, this wine trails off on the finish, showing a slender and more streamlined finish.

Aromas of black-skinned berry, scorched earth and mocha lead the nose. The concentrated palate offers blackberry jam, vanilla and tobacco alongside polished tannins. Enjoy through 2024.
