The 2017 12 Uve is remarkably pretty, fruit-forward, floral yet also spicy and intense. Notes of plum, blackberry, violet pastille and white smoke create a deeply alluring bouquet, taking on hints of smoked meat over time. It's velvety in feel with medium-bodied textures contrasted by zesty acids and cooling minerality, giving way to polished red and black fruits. Fine tannins frame the wine well, tapering off to pretty purple-tinged florals. This shows the richness of the vintage, yet it also gives the feel that its fruit has more to reveal over time. The 12 Uve is a Toscana Rosso from Maremma, produced by Il Paradiso di Frassina, and made from a mix of twelve different grapes, with Sangiovese making up to 40% of the blend followed by a list of both Italian and Bordeaux varieties. It's matured for two and a half years in Allier oak barrels and one year in bottle prior to release.
