Rasa Vineyards Occam's Razor Red 2018
|Region||United States, Washington, Columbia Valley|
Named after one of the winemaker's favorite life philosophies Occam's Razor. Given that all things are equal, the simplest answer tends to be the correct answer. Whittled down the easiest way to describe it is to “keep it simple.” Presented as the name to this red blend, inside is a medium bodied wine with a strong base, characteristics of dark fruits, vanilla, and some spice.
Dark red. Aromas of black plum, blueberry, licorice, mocha and spices. A juicy, supple midweight with good peppery lift and shape to its dark berry, spice, menthol and herb flavors. In a very dry style, with sneaky flavor intensity and thrust. Not quite austere but seemed to shut down in the glass. A bit darker and more brooding than the 2017 version, which was plumper at the same stage. Finishes with edgy tannins and repeating notes of licorice and pepper. I'd wait until early 2021 to drink this rather serious inexpensive blend.
