Fattoria La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino 2015
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino|
|Brand||Fattoria La Fiorita|
Our crafted Brunello by La Fiorita are the most genuine expression of Sangiovese coming from our different vineyards. The composed blends of these diverse extractions bring a delicate complexity to the harmonious wine respecting the characteristic of the vintages. Aged 2 years in large botte, then 2 more in the bottle before being released, they are the DNA behind La Fiorita. Full bodied, juicy red and ripe plum flavors. Touch of Cedar and Milk Chocolate. Dried roses and leather. Silky tannins and a long focused finish.
The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino stands out thanks to the very glossy and polished quality of the fruit on display. The smooth texture of the wine sets it apart and gives it a distinct personality. This expression drinks nicely out of the gate but could stand up to more cellar aging, especially to further finesse that silky, shiny texture. Some 21,500 bottles were made.
Here I'm finding a withdrawn and coy expression, showing sour cherry and strawberry, before giving way to dried floral tones and dusty earth. , I find velvety textures, hosting masses of ripe, dark red fruits, along with sweet herbs, hints of mocha, and leather, as fine tannins mount toward the finale, clenching the senses with youthful grip.
Cherry and plum fruit is underscored by dense, dusty tannins in this ripe, fluid red. Lively acidity keeps this well-defined, as iron, earth and sanguine accents emerge. Shows fine balance and length. Best from 2022 through 2038. 1,750 cases made, 900 cases imported.
Underbrush, camphor and new leather aromas mingle with a whiff of purple flower and tobacco. Reflecting the heat of the scorching vintage, the big broad palate is dominated by licorice and alcohol, with hints of stewed prune and vanilla in the background. While some may love the power, it's shy on fruit richness and freshness.
