The wine is mostly made up of grenache and mourvèdre with barely a hint of syrah. Crau de Ma Mère is an excellent wine, both powerful and elegant and as sun-filled as its terroir. Its bouquet offers a complex palette of very ripe red berries and rounded tannins with a chocolate-flavoured finale.
Food Pairing: It is a very concentrated wine with a lot of character that goes well with meat, venison as well as milky and fatty cheese.

Showing similar to last year, the 2013 Chateauneuf du Pape la Crau de la Mere (60% Grenache, 30% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah) is a nicely concentrated, medium-bodied and balanced 2013 that shows the cooler style of the vintage in its peppery, violet, mineral and red and black fruit aromas and flavors. Elegant and finesse-driven, with lively acidity and solid ripeness, it too should drink nicely through at least 2023.
