Jean Baptiste Ponsot Rully Molesme 2014

Jean Baptiste Ponsot Rully Molesme 2014

Deep garnet in color, with an explosive nose of black raspberry, licorice, and sublte hints of baking spice and tobacco. In the mouth, it is equally compelling, with bright red fruits, fresh herbs and hints of citrus and exotic spice. Deft balance and a well framed, lengthy finish make this a very versatile, approachable young red Burgundy. Ponsot over delivers again, even more so in this excellent vintage.

Wine AdvocateThe 2014 Rully 1er Cru Molesme is more straightforward than the Village Cru "En Bas de Vauvry" and did not display the same level of complexity or personality. The palate is better with peach skin and green apple notes, a fine line of acidity, but I cannot help but think that the Village Cru slips past this Premier Cru in the slipstream. Still, this remains a commendable Rully.
