50 year old vines. Bathonian limestone soil. Eastern exposure. 70% whole cluster. Aged in barrel for 14 months - 40% new oak. Certified organic since 2006, David Duband is a star on the rise in the Cote de Nuits. Like many of his best contemporaries, David's holdings are split between Domaine vines that he himself owns and vines that he has long term leases on. But unlike many other Domaine/Negociant operations in the region, David does all of the farming himself (a practice employed by such luminaries as Pierre Yves Colin Morey and Dominique Lafon). For those who have followed this Domaine from its inception, there is no question the wines are the best they have ever been.

A wide-ranging nose displays notes of red currant, pomegranate, lavender and hints of earth and oak. The round, polished and once again caressing medium weight flavors possess solid mid-palate volume that is open and accessible yet the slightly fruity finish tightens up noticeably. This too will need at least a few years.
