Finca La Celia Elite Malbec 2015
|Region||Argentina, Uco Valley|
|Brand||Finca La Celia|
Wine AdvocateIn reality, the 2015 Elite Malbec contains 5% Syrah and 2% Cabernet Franc sourced from three different plots from their vineyards, planted in 1999. It fermented in concrete vats with a mix of yeasts and was kept separate in barrel (20% new) for one year and then blended and kept in cement for one month before bottling. There are some spicy and smoky notes from the oak, still pretty noticeable, even though it's less dominant than in the past. There is a core of red and black fruit and a palate with fine, chalky tannins and some bitterness in the finish, which shows the oak again. A good commercial Malbec, with more backbone than it seems. It feels so obviously young and I'd wait one more year before pulling the cork, so the oak should get better integrated. Very good value for money. 26,000 bottles were filled in two lots.
