La Posta La Posta Tinto Red Blend 2014
Wine AdvocateThe showy and floral 2014 Tinto is a blend of mostly Malbec with some 35% Bonarda and less Syrah than in other vintages (perhaps 5-10%), as 2014 was not a very good vintage for the grape. Only 60% of the blend is matured in well-seasoned oak barrels, but the oak is completely unnoticeable leaving the aromas very primary, fresh, very aromatic and attractive. The palate is medium-bodied with some tannins I didn't expect, so it has more stuffing that you might think. It should stand up to food very well. 160,000 bottles.
Wine SpectatorThere are notes of white pepper to the dried berry and raspberry flavors in this red. The lightly spiced finish is clean and crisp. Drink now. 12,000 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastBlanketed with heavy, minty, candied oak, this Malbec-led blend is meaty, sulfuric, pasty and gaseous on the nose. Plump, oaky and sticky on the palate, with vanilla and candied blueberry and black-plum flavors, this is more fat and oaky than structured and defined.
