Winery's Notes

Vintage Overview

The agricultural year began with mild weather and infrequent, insubstantial rainfall.Despite the fairly rainless spring, the vines sprouted about 7-10 days earlier than usual, and growth was somewhat uneven but very composed, without vegetative explosions due to the heat of spring, a sign of great basal soil balance. Since mid-May, temperatures have risen above average to temperatures considered summery by June. Veraison began on 18 August, a week earlier, the same time we started. At the end of August, we saw the first thunderstorms, which really re-established the situation, allowing the plants to ripen their bunches. The grape quality was very high, very healthy bunches without any sort of mold or disease. Very good must concentrations - Francesco Monari, COO & Agronimist:

Tasting Note

Fruity nose with characteristic red fruits, notes of undergrowth and final spiciness.- Bernardino Sani, CEO & Winemaker

Powerful but harmonious mouth with a savory finish and present but silky tannins

Vinous

The 2022 Solengo slowly evolves in the glass with a collage of crushed blackberries, dried rosemary, shavings of blood orange and graphite. It’s silken in feel, displaying amazing density offset by a crunchy core of minerality and riveting acidity that further enhances its tart wild berry fruits. This finishes with hulking structure, leaving edgy tannins to mingle with blackcurrants and a cascade of violet inner florals, while tapering off with staining length. Bury this deep in the cellar. The 2022 Solengo is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Petit Verdot, 20% Merlot and 5% Sangiovese.
