2020 Fossacolle Brunello di Montalcino

The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino is darkly floral and intense, with a burst of crushed rocks and dried flowers giving way to plum sauce and a lifting hint of menthol. Surprisingly juicy and fresh, yet also lacking a bit of mid-palate depth, it saturates the senses with tart red berry fruits and mineral tones. The 2020 picks up momentum through the finish, leaving behind edgy tannins balanced by juicy acidity. Cellaring should bring more textural heft to the experience. For now, I remain conservative.
