Winemaker's Notes
Our Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore is produced through the refermentation of Amarone della Valpolicella pomace. A vintage Valpolicella is placed in contact with the Amarone skins, still rich in residual sugars, which initiate a second fermentation. This slow process enriches the wine in colour, aroma and flavour, adding delicate hints of dried fruit while preserving its identity. The result remains a Valpolicella with a fresh, lively structure, where fruit and vibrancy stay at the forefront, while the more mature notes lend additional depth and complexity.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby. Aromas of red plum, marzipan and exotic flowers, along with a saline nuance. Juicy and tightly coiled on the palate, with strong acidity that preserves the red fruit and spice flavours. The finish is long and persistent, highlighting the purity of the fruit.

The 2018 Valpolicella Superiore Ripasso is a force to be reckoned with. Here I’m finding an intense and savory display, as aromas of plum sauce and red currants give way to balsamic spice, smoky minerals and purple-tinged florals. It’s velvety with medium-bodied textures, ushering in ripe blackberry fruit, as cooling minerals and herbal tones add further lift. Hints of baker’s chocolate and medicinal cherry linger, along with residual acids that frame the expression perfectly. Only just shy of an Amarone in depth, the 2018 Ripasso is flat-out stunning. This version is light on its feet, with sun-dried cherry and date notes accented by black tea leaf and tangy, orange peel acidity. Well-spiced on the lightly chewy finish. (AN)
